Have you heard about endless beauty benefits of turmeric?
I'm sure you had and so had I. I read a lot about how good it is for acne skin, how it should reduce redness, and promotes skin healing and brightening the skin. It supposed to soften lines and wrinkles, give the face a more youthful appearance.
I mostly wanted to try for the brightening. I have to admit I was pretty excited to read all those good opinions about this spice and I decided to give it a try. I found few ideas I thought might be worth to experiment with. So there I was, starting my first adventure with this curative spice. I started with foot mask, which supposed to help with cracked heels. I go for all the foot masks/ I try new ones whenever I can. To make this one I mixed 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of salt, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of turmeric.
All excited to have my glorious home spa. I rushed to my bathroom to take a nice bath and apply the mask. I supposed to massage my feet with it about 10 minutes and then when it dries wash with warm water - I didn't get to this part. I put it on my feet but because I was really uncomfortable I rinsed my feet with an intention to try it again, however I was terrified of what I saw. My feet where yellow! I immediately started washing them with hope it will help, it did but just a little bit. At that point I was devastated. Second after I realized the same that happened to my feet happened to my bathtub. I rushed for detergents and started cleaning. I spent good 30 minutes to clean up this mess. I was really mad and annoyed, instead of relaxing time I ended up with yellow everything around.
Most of the websites says that it doesn't stain your face. Honestly I was too scared to try it. I had enough, my feet instead of being smooth and soft were yellow! My pedicure was ruined and as I figured out later my manicure as well. Instead of nice and relaxing bath I ended up scrubbing my bathtub cause it had yellow stains all over it, not relaxing at all! I believe turmeric is really good for your skin and probably all the masks works great but I won't try it again. For me it's not worth all the mess and cleaning after, also in my case new mani/pedi. I think I will stay with turmeric in my kitchen not in my bathroom.
Have any of you ever tried it and has any thoughts?
