Pretzel Bites

Pretzel Bites

  • 1 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 packet yeast ((2 1/4 teaspoon))
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg

1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir with a spoon until fairly mixed. Add salt, sugar, and melted butter; stir until fairly combined. Add 3 cups of flour, 1 cup at a time. Mix all together with spoon or stand mixer (attache dough hook to stand mixer) until the dough is thick. Add 1/4 cup If it is still sticky (up to 3/4 cups more).
2. Knead the dough for few minutes and shape into a ball. Place in a large mixing bowl that has been lightly coated with nonstick spray. Cover and let the dough rest in a warm area for about 10 minutes.
3. Preheat oven to 425°F.
4. Cut ball of dough into 6 sections. Roll the dough into six ropes. Cut the rope into bites pieces.
5. Boil 9 cups of water with the baking soda. Drop few pretzel bites into water and let sit for 30 seconds. Remove with a spatula and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure the bites aren't touching, otherwise they will stick together.
6. Brush beaten egg over each pretzel bite. Sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
7. Melt the butter and brush all the pretzel bites with butter, then sprinkle with more salt.
8. Store in an airtight container.
