My (Not So) Perfect Life – Sophie Kinsella

Because it's human nature to hope for impossible things

Meet Katie, or Cat - she's not sure herself.

Katie is a young woman from the British countryside who tries to make it in the London advertising world. She pursuing her dream of living in a big city, but the reality is not always as great as she would wish for. She lives in a tiny room with very difficult roommates, she has no money and no social life, and a boss - Demeter - living perfect life she can only wish for - but she is willing to overlook all those unpleasantness because she gets to live in London, her dream place to be.

Katie uses Instagram to make it seem as she is living a much more glamorous life than she is in reality. "One day my life will match my Instagram posts. One day". When finally things starting to come together for her as quickly as things come together, they fall apart—Katie is fired. Unable to find a new job in the city she has to go back to her hometown and living with her dad and his girlfriend and help with their glamping business.

"Why did you believe my hype when you knew your own hype was all fiction?" - right? We all do that sometimes, we post a picture of a healthy salad but we don't show a burger we it with, or a picture of perfectly made makeup without showing our favorite, but worn out sweatpants. You are not perfect, I am not perfect, no one is. Something to accept and stop compering ourselves to others, remember there is always two sides to every coin "they have their crappy truths too". So next time you will beating yourself up because you saw a picture of someone prettier, richer, happier (or whatever else) than you, look around you try to find something that you have what others can envy you.

"I am what I am. I'm sorry it took me so long to realize it".
